Title: Lifting Load Effects on Elevated Structures

Joint presentation to made on load effects impacting elevated structures and decks, bridges, and underground facilities (utilities, vaults, foundations, etc.), including host structure stability and integrity, during lifting (cranes, gantries, etc.) and horizontal movement (SPMT, slide jacking, etc.) activities.
Learning objectives include, but are not limited to:

  1. Basic forces at work during load application
  2. Types of loads generated, including lateral surcharges
  3. Awareness, identification, and documentation of as is conditions of structures and underground
  4. Facilities within the areas influenced by load applications
  5. Methods to mitigate load effects to maintain host and surrounding structure stability and integrity
