Title:
Renewable Diesel: Obtainable, Sustainable, Green
Description:
Session Code: EM9
Renewable diesel (RD) is an emerging ''drop-in'' fuel that is chemically and structurally ''almost identical'' to conventional petroleum diesel fuel. Commonly referred to as ''Green Diesel'', it's produced from 100% renewable and sustainable raw materials (biomass). No, it's not Bio-Diesel the number one misconception! This session will dive into the technical specifications, manufacturing process, availability, emission benefits, and regulations governing it use. Learn how the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts have used over one million gallons of this renewable and sustainable fuel in its fleet of heavy equipment over the past four years and discover why this alternative fuel should be on every equipment manager's radar.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn how easy this drop-in fuel was to implement into the fleet
- Learn how big of an impact it has had on GHG emission reductions and our cardon footprint
- Learn how it can improve the performance of Tier 4 diesel emission systems, drive down maintenance cost, and improve uptime
