Title: The Future of Cementitious Materials

Description:

Session Code: CO7

The future of cementitious materials is changing. With a growing interest in sustainability, the construction industry is looking for solutions to help reduce its carbon footprint. This presentation will provide an overview of Portland-limestone cements (PLC) and other alternative cementitious materials (including ternary blends) for use in concrete. The impact on the fresh and hardened properties of concrete, how to specify and use them, and several examples of successful installations will be provided.
Learning Objectives:

  1. Define Portland-limestone cements (PLCs) and alternative supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) for use in concrete
  2. Define their influence on fresh concrete properties including: workability, consistency, heat of hydration, and setting time.
  3. Explain their impact on hardened concrete properties including strength, durability, abrasion resistance, and aesthetics.
  4. Discuss current research and testing requirements, and standards to ensure performance.

Type: CONEXPO-CON/AGG
