Event Information

Title: Making Your Hydraulic Powered Machine Energy Efficient

Description:

Session Code: W2

No machine is 100% efficient. The first law of thermodynamics (commonly known as the law of conservation) states energy cannot be created or destroyed, only converted from one form to another. Its nonnegotiable - its physics and is true regardless of the technologies a machine is built upon. With the ever-increasing push for energy efficiency and sustainability, machine designers must consider all options for power transmission including the efficient use of fluid power. This session will look at many of the sources of hydraulic inefficiency as well as how existing technologies and design best practices that when properly implemented, can yield substantial increases in efficiency and reliability while maintaining the power density, ease of application, flexibility of installation and reliability that fluid power is renowned for.
