John O’Neill has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering focusing on sensor fusion and surgical robotics from the University of Minnesota, where he worked on time of flight sensors, smart skin sensors and tissue identification through a da Vinci surgical grasper. He also had a post-doc with King’s College London in surgical robotics for vitreoretinal surgery, where he worked on non-linear inverse kinematics through artificial neural networks and developed an open source VR toolkit for visualizing robotic sensor data. He currently works at Danfoss Power Solutions providing autonomous vehicle solutions for off-highway vehicles.
