Thomas Baird P.E.

Mr. Baird has more than 31 years of experience in road design and other transportation elements specializing in sustainable designs, stormwater management, and porous asphalt. This session will briefly introduce porous asphalt design and the testing behind the development of construction standards and processes. The primary focus will be on the production and handling of porous asphalt, the stone foundation courses, asphalt placement, rolling procedures and rules of thumb to ensure a quality product. Videos, photographs, and first-hand case studies highlight important do's and don'ts around the entire process. The session is interactive and entertaining with a few bloopers observed in the field as well.
