David Brown
I’m the Co Director of Training for Local 14-14B of the International Union of Operating Engineers (I.U.O.E.), a heavy equipment and hoisting local based in New York City and covering all five boroughs.
I started my career as a heavy equipment operator in 2003, working primarily in NYC. Over the years, I’ve operated a wide range of equipment, with a focus on tower cranes and mobile cranes, as well as rotating telehandlers and forklifts. In 2022, I transitioned into my current role as Director of Training, where I now help guide and mentor the next generation of operating engineers.
I hold a New York City Hoisting Machine Operator License and have earned 11 NCCCO certifications. Since 2013, I’ve been a credentialed practical examiner for the NCCCO, administering practical exams in 9 different CCO categories. I also serve as an alternate on the NCCCO Exam Management Committees for tower cranes, dedicated pile drivers, and lift directors.
In addition, I’m a member of the ASME B30.3 Tower Crane Standards Committee and an alternate on the P30 Committee for Planning Load Handling Activities. I’m also an OSHA-authorized construction trainer and Hazmat trainer.
I’ve been around cranes, forklifts, and telehandlers my entire life, and I’m passionate about training future operators to use equipment safely and efficiently. Helping others build solid foundations in this industry is one of the most rewarding parts of my career
